About Us

Meet the owner

Welcome to Furbaby Funhouse, my name is Alyssa and I own and operate the Funhouse! Coming from an extensive background in working with animals, I found my passion in offering a safe, small-batch dog daycare. Established my business in 2019 with a more personable name change to Furbaby Funhouse in 2020.
In 2013 my passion for working with animals started as a dog walker with occasional cat/dog drop in visits. Moving forward to 2015 I began working at a high-volume dog daycare, boarding, and grooming facility near downtown Portland Oregon. At this facility we were partnered with the Oregon Humane Society and grew to love many furbabies looking for their furever home. One special character caught my eye, and after 3 weeks of 40+ hours a week working, I claimed the little rascal as mine. Wyatt is a high strung, herding type breed, and was returned 4 times before he came home with me. I wasn't aware of his flaws as dog daycare was his outlet in burning some of those unwanted behaviors. A few days of being home bound, I quickly found out when he was bored and unsupervised, the naughty dog behaviors exploded. Off to work he went with me, 5 days a week, and most of his issues subsided. Wyatt is now a little over a decade old, still in his forever puppy stages, but relatively a good boy. He's tapered back to 1 to 2 times a week joining in on the funhouse fun, and still loves every minute of it!

After starting my own business, I received a phone call from old coworkers about one of the daycare regulars needing a home asap due to medical issues in the family. I wasn't prepared for a second pup, but I knew Hope would thrive with someone she was already familiar with. Without hesitation I went and picked Hope up. She is exactly what our family needed without even knowing it! Her and Wyatt became the best of friends, the 3 of us did everything together. We enjoyed solo road trips across the country numerous times, many local adventures, and tons of overnight furbaby friends. We lost Hope in December 2025 due to old age, and our household is still adjusting. Furbabies become a huge part of your family and it's a hole that can't be filled.
My overall goal with Furbaby Funhouse is to offer something more low-key, where I truly get to learn everything about your furbaby. Each one that comes through our doors has a different personality, different needs, and different ways of displaying body language. Over the years of working with dogs I've gained so much knowledge from dog body language, behaviors, minor medical issues, etc. I want to share that knowledge in giving a confident, safe space for you to have an outlet for your furbaby, beyond a dog park environment.

Looking forward to giving your furbaby the best days ever!
